What is "Horenzo"?
Well... it sounds very Japanese and not so many people know about this vegetables. Well... Horenzo itself means "spinach" in Japanese. But different from regular spinach, it is delicate, small, spear shaped and relatively flat leaves. It is a Japanese local variety of spinach. The stems are slightly pink-red color, and it has flavor mild and sweet.
Same as regular spinach, Horenzo is also high in minerals and vitamins. It is one of the favorite green vegetable in Japan. Usually it can be found easily in Japanese home and restaurants' menu.
